SEAMAHP creates hands-on, innovative programs in Maritime Archaeology.
Our non-profit organization offers opportunities to learn about maritime archaeology and history through investigations of sites and artifacts. Dr. Calvin Mires and Captain Laurel Seaborn, as co-founders of this program, believe that experiential learning brings maritime stories to life for students. SEAMAHP courses focus on human creativity and endeavor in maritime industries throughout history by examining the “life-cycle” of a vessel, from its inception through ship design and construction, through its “adult” life as a working vessel, and its “after life” through training in maritime archaeology for both divers and non-divers alike.
We encourage collaboration and support of local community partners, museums and organizations to further that goal.
